This picture shows adults of the most common cockroach species that live around peoples houses in the United States. From left to right: American cockroach (Periplaneta americana), Oriental cockroach (Blatta orientalis), German cockroach (Blatella germanica), Brown-banded cockroach (Supella longipalpa).
By the way, the place names (American, Oriental, German, are all pretty much wrong. These roaches go where ever humans do, and they are all around the world now (order Blattaria, the cockroaches).
