nuthatches

Sittidae

There are 25 species in this family of birds, distributed across North America, Europe, and Asia. Nuthatches are small birds with unstreaked plumage. They have long toes which help them travel head-down on tree trunks searching for insects to eat. They like to store their food and come back eat it later.
