The Great Lakes are 5 of the world’s large freshwater lakes. These 5 lakes: Ontario, Erie, Huron, Superior, and Michigan, make up the largest group of freshwater lakes on Earth. Each can be considered a sort of inland, freshwater sea because they are so large. The Great Lakes are bounded by Ontario (Canada), Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Michigan. Michigan is unique because it is surrounded by 4 of the 5 Great Lakes. Great Lakes habitats are ones that are found in and around these large lakes.
