pond and box turtles

Emydidae

This large family of turtles includes 95 species, found in the Americas, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Pond turtles (for example, cooters, sliders , and terrapins ) are relatively flat; most live in freshwater habitats. Box turtles have domed shells and live primarily on land. Pond and box turtles are the turtle species most commonly kept as pets.
