Kids' Inquiry of Diverse Species

Local animals in this group:

starlings

Sturnidae

Almost all of the 114 species in the starling family live in Europe, Africa, or Asia. The European starling , however, has become abundant all over the world wherever it was brought by people. Many birds in this family have dark, iridescent plumage. Their long bills are only slightly curved. Starlings, which include mynahs , are well known for their ability to mimic people and other sounds.
