Swamp

Swamps are areas that have standing or slow-moving water or very wet soils throughout the year. Swamp vegetation is usually dominated by woody shrubs and trees. These shrubs and trees are usually adapted to having permanently wet roots. In most plants, having wet roots makes it difficult to get enough oxygen into the plant roots and tissues.
